Taishan district hosts kiwi fruit picking festival
The Taishan District "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival" and the second Kiwi Fruit Picking Festival opened on Sept 23 in Daheyu village, Taishan district, Tai'an East China's Shandong province.
The picking festival which will run until the end of this October aims to expand the city's kiwi sales market and help local kiwi industry development. Visitors can enjoy fruit picking at orchards in Qijiatan and Daheyu villages in Shengzhuang town.
Shengzhuang town in Taishan district has been striving to promote the integration development of kiwi fruit industry. The sector has become an important force to increase locals' income.
Taishan district is making efforts to promote rural vitalization by accelerating development of high-efficiency agriculture with local characteristics. It has developed featured industries such as tea, flower seedling, and organic vegetable.
The district currently is home to 70 agricultural enterprises above the municipal level. By the first half of this year, the per capita disposable income of rural residents in the region reached 12,358 yuan ($1923.07), up 14.4 percent year-on-year.
