Sixth session of 17th Tai'an Municipal People's Congress commences

The sixth session of the 17th Tai'an Municipal People's Congress opened in Tai'an, Shandong province on Jan 25, with 387 delegates in attendance.
Zhang Tao, mayor of Tai'an, presented the city's government work report, highlighting several significant achievements the local government has made over the last year. According to Zhang, Tai'an has made progress in economic and social development despite the impact of COVID-19, and the city's gross domestic product rose by 5.8 percent to 276.65 billion yuan ($42.81 billion).
Zhang also reviewed the city's achievements throughout the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), announced the main tasks for the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), and outlined the city's 2021 goals. The city's GDP is expected to increase by 6 percent and its general public budget revenue is expected to increase by 5 percent in 2021.
