Cultural and tourism industries booming in Tai'an, Shandong

Tourism and cultural sectors in Tai'an, East China's Shandong province, are booming, with a series of new and improved consumption venues popping up. The culture and tourism sectors, as well as related industries, have become an important part of the city's economic development, local officials said.

Mount Tai is not the only popular attraction in the city. Many visitors also enjoy the picturesque scenery of Xihu Lake, wander along the city's old streets at night, and experience fresh air in countryside.

Mount Tai Xihu Lake Scenic Area has drawn much attraction from tourists since it opened to the public on May 1 with its magnificent music fountain, light shows and pleasant summer views.

The lake covers a total area of 3.6 square kilometers, while the scenic area as a whole covers 10.5 square kilometers and is filled with charming ecological and natural landscapes. A total of 4.3 billion yuan ($604.45 million) has been invested to help upgrade the landscape and lakeside roads.

Additionally, the Aegean Shopping Mall will soon open to the public to provide locals with a new place for recreation.

With a total area of 100,000 square meters, the shopping mall will become a commercial complex integrating shopping, catering, leisure, and entertainment. Several stores including a supermarket, cinema and gymnasium are currently being decorated.

In recent years, Tai'an has paid much more attention to the development of tourism and culture and ramped up efforts to promote its all-for-one-tourism integrating the tourism culture, sports and healthcare sectors.

In 2020, a total of 82 cultural and tourism projects are under construction or have been signed into effect in the city, with a total planned investment of 70.3 billion yuan, injecting new impetus into the development of the city's cultural and tourism industry.
