Tai'an hosts first job fair after Spring Festival holiday
Tai'an city in East China's Shandong province organized its first large-scale job fair on Feb 14 to meet the demand for new employees after the Spring Festival holiday.
Hosted at the Taishan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the job fair provided more than 10,000 jobs offered by 223 local companies.
Most of the jobs cover more than 20 key areas such as manufacturing, catering, finance, medical care, logistics and education.
There is also a huge demand for employees in the machinery, sales and industrial sectors, said an official from the human resources and social security bureau of Tai'an.
"With the city's economic and social development, many people now prefer to work in their hometowns," he said. "We organized the fair to provide opportunities for them. More fairs will be held this year."
The fair aims to attract more college students and migrant workers, who usually return to their hometowns during the Spring Festival for family reunions.
As it marks the peak period of recruitment and job hunting after the Spring Festival holiday, the job fair attracted over 15,000 job seekers and more than 2,800 people signed preliminary employment agreements.
The Tai'an Smart Valley Industrial Park, one of the supporting institutions of the job fair, also offered many jobs in the park.
In addition, the human resources and social security bureau of the city’s high-tech zone will hold regular recruitment talks every Friday from 9 to 11 am.
