Jewelry and jade carving exhibition to brighten Tai'an

A high-end jewelry and jade carving exhibition with a total value exceeding one billion yuan ($150 million) will debut at the Taishan International Conference Center on Sept 5 in Tai'an, Shandong province to promote the local jade industry and raise its profile across the entire market.

Lasting through Sept 8, the event is organized by the Gems and Jewelry Trade Association of China, the China Tourism Commodity and Equipment Association and the Tai'an government. It will offer a series of activities, including a jade carving competition and forums on development of the jade industry.

The event will gather high-quality exhibitors from home and abroad and display a wide range of delicate and precious handicrafts made of natural stone, including Hetian jade, amethyst, bloodstone, jadeite, rubies and sapphires.

Gemstone carvings by nationally-known master artisans such as Liu Chaoguo and Zhao Guoan will be a highlight of the exhibition.
