China fairs highlight traditional crafts
The third China International Cultural Tourism Fair and the first Traditional Chinese Crafts Fair opened in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, on Sept 15, displaying a wide range of fine traditional handicrafts at home and abroad.
The five-day event has two main venues and 20 sub-venues in Jinan with a total exhibition area of 100,000 square meters. It is being held both online and offline and has attracted more than 2,700 exhibitors.
The two fairs have 11 exhibition areas with different themes including traditional Chinese handcrafts, Yellow River handmade artworks, Grand Canal crafts, international handcrafts, intelligent equipment for culture and tourism, and special delicacies.
A series of fine crafts from 16 Shandong cities are being displayed during the event, showcasing the cities' achievements of promoting Shandong handcrafts and the integrated development of cultural tourism.
Shandong province is an important cradle of Chinese civilization, and has created a great deal of refined and sophisticated artworks and handicrafts. The province is currently home to 186 intangible cultural heritage items at national level and 1,073 at provincial level.
