The 7th China Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo is set to be held in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, from Aug 25 to 29, according to a news conference held in Beijing on Aug 17.

This year's theme combines intangible cultural heritages with modern life, and will fully demonstrate the achievements of China's intangible cultural heritage protection since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012.

The expo is held every two years and has become an important national brand event to showcase the country's achievements in protecting, promoting and popularizing intangible cultural heritages.

Both online and offline activities will be held during the expo. The main venue is located in Jinan Shungeng International Convention and Exhibition Center, where there will be four special exhibitions - achievements in protecting China's intangible cultural heritages, intangible cultural heritages that boost rural vitalization, the intangible cultural heritage along the Grand Canal, and Chinese traditional tea making techniques.

Moreover, a wide range of activities will be held at branch venues, which will feature intangible cultural heritage costumes and food, as well as many online activities such as academic forums, a symposium, and Chinese Quyi performances. Quyi is a general term for Chinese folk art forms, including singing ballads, storytelling, crosstalk and clapper talk.

Innovation is the key word for this year's expo, with a large number of new intangible cultural heritage achievements, items, and creative products on display. Exquisite intangible cultural heritage techniques from across the country will be highlighted, aiming to enhance the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritages.
