East China's Shandong province has stepped up its pace in constructing a national cultural export base to help cultural enterprises tap into the global market and promote the development of cultural trade.

Boshan district in Zibo, hailed as China's "capital of ceramics", is well-known for its porcelain and colorful glazed products. The added export value of colorful glazed products from Boshan was not high. In recent years, the district has taken advantage of being approved as a national cultural export base, and allocated nearly 90 million yuan ($13.32 million) to bolster the development of its colored glass industry.

The government also encouraged enterprises to participate in large-scale exhibitions such as the China International Import Expo and the Canton Fair, and reached a batch of foreign trade orders to enhance brand awareness in global markets. Currently, Boshan is home to 158 cultural export enterprises, and in the first half of the year, the export value of ceramic glazed products reached 1.76 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.

Shandong is now home to 22 national-level cultural export enterprises, and more than 4,300 cultural trade enterprises, all of which have boosted the high-quality development of the province's cultural trade.
