Wang Qi, director of China Culture Media Group, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that the driving activity serves as a driving force for promoting related industries such as food and transportation and stimulates market vitality.

Leaders of tourism departments from around the country gathered to discuss the transformation and upgrading of driving tourism development.

The Association of National Tourism Road Publicity and Promotion and a permanent site for the tourism road conference in Weihai were established during the event.

An activity themed on rural driving tours was also jointly launched by 26 provincial driving tour associations across the country.

During the event, a route for national driving tours was released. It integrated national high-quality tourist road resources such as the Sichuan-Tibet tourist highway and the Xinjiang Duku tourist highway.

In order to promote driving tourism, a series of photogenic spots were set up along the 1,001-kilometer driving tourist road, including the most beautiful spot in Weihai, attracting tourists from all over the country.

Visitors took a popular sightseeing bus to visit Huancui district of Weihai and Rongcheng city along the driving tourist road, appreciating the beautiful scenery of Beihuanhai Road and Maotou Mountain during the event.

In addition, Weihai has signed a digital smart contract with Baidu Maps to explore more routes for driving via navigation systems.
