The Shandong Library, founded in 1909, the first year of the reign of the Xuantong Emperor in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), has a long history and rich collection of works.

The new Shandong Library is located in Jinan Hi-tech Development District and opened to the public in October 2002.

It is a comprehensive public library funded by the state and plays an important role in social science, education and culture. It is also an academic institution that provides reading and information reference services to the public.

The library provides services related to reading, lending, science and technology look-up, referencing, information look-up, translation, exhibitions, seminars, and other services through its rich collection.
