Intl kite festival to kick off in Weifang
The 38th Weifang International Kite Festival is set to open on April 17 in Weifang city, Shandong province, which is known as the World Kite Capital.
The annual event will run until May 5 and consist of a dazzling array of activities, including business promotions, sports competitions, cultural exchanges, performances, and art exhibitions.

According to the organizing committee, kite-flying hobbyists and professionals, as well as traditional kite craftsmen from across the country, will be invited to show off their skills and promote kite culture during the event.
Kite-flying competitions, traditional kite activities, a kite-themed oil painting exhibition, and essay and speech competitions for local primary and secondary school students will take place during the festival.
Kite activities for international students will also be held during the event, and highlights of the event will be broadcast via live streaming and short video apps.
Weifang, the birthplace of kites, has held the kite festival every year since 1984. The festival has helped increase the city's international profile and high-quality development, according to local officials.
