The launch ceremony for this year's Shandong intangible cultural heritage month event was held on Feb 3 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province.

The event, which lasts from Feb 4 to March 14, will feature over 520 cultural activities and promote the province's rich and diverse intangible cultural heritages, enrich the lives of local residents and add to the festive Spring Festival atmosphere.

According to the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, an online exhibition will be held to display the latest achievements of intangible cultural heritage protection in Shandong.

Intangible cultural heritage items related to Chinese Lunar New Year culture and celebrations will be promoted via short video apps like Kuaishou and Douyin.

An online intangible cultural heritage shopping fair, which will last from late January to March, will feature about 100 inheritors and their traditional culture creations.

A competition themed on creative design of ICH items will take place from late January to February.

In addition, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has launched short video collections to encourage the public to be more involved in the protection of the province's heritage.
