National calligraphy exhibition opens in Qingdao

The 5th National Zhengti Calligraphy Exhibition opened on Jan 8 at the Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition in Qingdao, Shandong province.

The event is the first high-standard large-scale exhibition launched by the China Calligraphers Association since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Around 293 works, selected from 18,000 calligraphy works across the country, are being exhibited, covering clerical script, seal character, and regular script works.

Shandong has been ramping up efforts to build itself into a cultural powerhouse. The Shandong Calligraphers Association has been working to promote calligraphy creation, academic research, and talent training to speed up the innovative development of calligraphy in Shandong.

The exhibition, jointly organized by the China Calligraphers Association, the Shandong Calligraphers Association, and the Qingdao municipal publicity department, will last until Jan 28.
