The sixth China Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo opened on Friday in Jinan, Shandong province, highlighting the contribution of intangible cultural heritage in the country's poverty alleviation endeavor.

From traditional clothing, handicrafts, to ethnic musical instruments and performing arts, a wide range of Chinese intangible cultural heritage projects from across the country are on display, attracting a swarm of visitors.

The expo showcases the achievements made by China in protecting its intangible cultural heritage, and how people from once-impecunious areas raised their incomes and escaped poverty by keeping the traditional Chinese culture alive.

The five-day event can be attended in-person and virtually. Over 700 intangible cultural heritages have been exhibited online coupled with a series of livestreams, selling some of the cultural products to boost consumption.
