Shandong strengthens presence in South Korea, Japan
Wang Lei, director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, led a government delegation to South Korea and Japan from Dec 1 to 8 to strengthen ties in the cultural and tourism sectors.
A promotional Shandong culture and tourism event was held on Dec 3 in Seoul, marking the end of Shandong Culture Year in South Korea.
More than 300 guests attended the event, including government officials and representatives from travel agencies, airlines, shipping companies, and tourism associations.
Liu Jiayi, Party chief of Shandong province, presented certificates to several South Korean individuals, honoring them as "Confucius tourism ambassadors of Shandong".
In addition, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism signed a cooperation agreement with the Seoul Arts Center, while the Shandong Artists Association signed a cooperation agreement with the Korean Art Society.
During their stay, the delegation visited a number of institutions, associations, enterprises, tourism offices, and cultural centers throughout South Korea and Japan and signed numerous memorandums to promote more cultural and tourism cooperation.
Furthermore, a series of activities were held to showcase Shandong's unique culture, long history, and many well-known tourist destinations.
