Winter tourism festival launched in Jinan
A winter tourism festival was launched at Daming Lake scenic spot in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, on Nov 10.
The event is hosted by the provincial cultural and tourism department and will run until February 2020.
According to organizers, the province is offering a variety of travel routes revolving around natural scenery, folk culture, urban recreation, healthcare, and local delicacies, along with more than 100 cultural performances and food fairs.
A series of preferential policies have also been carried out to promote supply-side structural reform in the tourism industry and attract more tourists from China and abroad, said Wang Lei, director of the provincial cultural and tourism department, at the launch ceremony.
He added that the event was meant to improve the winter travel experience for visitors.
An exhibition of cultural products was also set up alongside the launch ceremony. Many intangible cultural heritage items, such as Jinan shadow puppetry shows and dough figurines, proved popular with visitors.
