The 2019 Boshan Colored Glass Culture and Art Festival is underway in Boshan district of Zibo, East China's Shandong province.

It will run until Sep 4, showcasing a dazzling display of exquisite and artistic ceramics and colored glass products.

A series of activities including trade promotions, forums, colored glaze product exhibitions, and tours to local enterprises will take place during the festival.

China's colored glaze has a global reputation, and Boshan is the place where it originated during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Production of Boshan colored glaze started to boom in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and peaked during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

According to the Boshan district government, it is now home to about 300 enterprises producing ceramics and colored glass products, whose annual output value reached 10 billion yuan ($1.54 billion). The exports of cultural products and services manufactured in the district reached $1.01 billion, with products being sold to over 100 countries and regions across the world.

Last year the district was included in the first group of national culture export bases to further promote the area's ceramics and colored glass industry to the world.
