Cultural bonanzas to embrace Shandong
According to Shandong government officials, three national-level cultural exhibitions covering painting, art design, photography, calligraphy, and engraving will be hosted in the province from this September to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
A news conference was held on Aug 29 by the Information Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government to introduce the arrangements and schedule of the exhibitions.
The 13th National Art Exhibition's Chinese painting section will open on Sept 26 at the Shandong Art Museum and will last for a month, while the art and design section will open on Sept 6 at the Art Gallery of the Shandong University of Art & Design, running for two months.
The 27th National Photography Exhibition will open on Sept 27 in the cultural blocks of Shihu Garden in Weifang and will last for 10 days.
The 12th National Exhibition of Calligraphy and Engraving will open on Nov 8 at the Shandong Art Museum and will last for one month.
This is the first time that three national-level exhibitions to be hosted in one province, which provides a rare opportunity to promote the development of Shandong's culture and art sectors, as well as display the new image of the province, officials said.
