Chinese Landscape Oil Paintings Exhibition opens in Weifang
The 2019 Chinese Landscape Oil Paintings Exhibition opened in Shihu Garden in the city of Weifang, Shandong province on April 19.
The exhibition, with "celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and depicting the great rivers and mountains of the motherland" as its theme, showcased nearly 30 masterpieces by top Chinese oil painters and 150 recent works of award-winning painters.
This year's exhibition, with "mountain, water, grass and wood" as the core concept for planning and design, intended to allow the painters' poetic "sustenance" to be seen and perceived through visual design, exhibition design and activities.
The exhibition area was divided into five main parts, namely, a preface hall, an exhibition area for specially invited works, an exhibition area for works of award-winning young artists, a video and interactive experience area, and a cultural and creative products area.
Several exhibition halls have broken the idea of single work display through immersive exhibition methods, which combine painting works with an exhibition environment, images and activities.
The exhibition also adopted the image projection technology and painted themed colors on walls.
Centering on the four series of "mountain, water, grass and wood", it brought visitors a sense of hearing, touch, vision and taste through an environment of color and light, and created an immersive exhibition space.
The organizers developed mobile phone software allowing visitors to hear or watch the painter's storytelling by scanning the QR code of the exhibiting works. In this way, painting works can interact with the visitors in an all-round and multi-sensory way, which changed "visibility" into diversified "experience".
In addition, a creative costume show featuring famous Chinese oil paintings will be launched during the exhibition, which will perfectly merge the "dynamic beauty" of static art with the "quiet beauty" of dynamic action. It is regarded as "cross-border cooperation" between show performance and oil painting.
The organizer also developed customized cultural and creative products based on the exhibited works, creating a feast of oil painting that can be seen, heard and taken away.
Other activities such as "face to face with the masters – the art space for children" and an oil painting treasure-hunting game will let teenagers get close to the art of oil painting.
It will also organize students from art schools to copy the masterpieces of famous oil painters and display the best of them at the exhibition, allowing children to participate in the top domestic oil painting feast.
The exhibition is an important cultural brand jointly created by the China Oil Painting Society and the Weifang municipal government. It is one of the most academic exhibition brands in China's landscape oil painting industry.
The event has been held in Weifang for five years since it was launched in 2014. It aims to showcase the style of contemporary Chinese oil painting through exhibitions and interactions with famous artists, promote the prosperity of China's oil painting market and promote the development of Chinese oil painting.
