Qingdao folk fair comes to an end
The annual Qingdao Turnip, Yuanxiao and Tangqiu Fair wrapped up on Feb 20 in Shibei district of the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province.
Known as the first fair in the Year of the Pig, the event attracted more than one million visitors at its main venue around the Haiyunan Temple in three days, with total sales reaching 22.3 million yuan ($3.3 million).
The annual folk fair is dedicated to candid food and popular snacks, as indicated by tis name. Yuanxiao, also known as tangyuan, are sweet sticky-rice filled dumplings enjoyed during the Spring Festival. Tangqiu, or tanghulu, is a traditional snack with sugar coated haws on a stick enjoyed by all-ages in China.
