Art adds fun to rice paddy in Dongying
The magnificent rice paddy art in Yong'an town of Kenli district of Dongying, Shandong province has attracted hordes of visitors to come and enjoy the unique art form during the summer.
Local farmers have planted various types art in all sorts of colors to create images in a paddy filed, covering an area of 300 mu (20 hectares).
Paintings depicting lifelike zodiac symbols and local rural revitalization and beauty are displayed.
According to Xu Kaihua, an officer from the Yong'an town, the paintings will become more three-dimensional and colorful as the rice reaches the later stages of growth. The best views are expected to come in August and September.
A visitor surnamed Li said that he was amazed to see such beautiful and creative art in a rice field.
"We deliberately bring our kid to enjoy the scenery in the rural area and the rice paddy paintings are quite impressive," said a visitor from Dongying.
Originating in Japan, the rice paddy art uses various colored rice plants as paint on a rice-field canvas. The massive pictures are elaborately designed using perspective drawing methods to make them look their best when seen from the observation platform. The art had been good for rural areas to develop tourism and increase popularity.
