An Italian mosaic art exhibition in celebration of the 45th anniversary of cultural exchange between China and Italy was inaugurated at Qingdao Art Gallery on Oct 8.

The mosaics were provided by the Friuli School of Mosaic, which was founded in 1922 and occupies an important position in the field of ancient and contemporary mosaic art.

Jointly organized by the Institute of Culture at the Italian Embassy in Beijing, the Qingdao People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the Qingdao International Cultural Association, the exhibition will run until Oct 25, the first stop on a nationwide tour of China.

Visitors can try their hands at making mosaics under the guidance of experts from the Friuli School of Mosaic during the exhibition.

The Friuli School of Mosaic and the cultural bureau of Qingdao's Shibei District signed a letter of intent for cooperation at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, according to which the two parties will jointly run a school to introduce mosaic art to China.
