The event is being sponsored by the State General Administration of Sports, the International Kiteboarding Association (IKA), and the Administrative Committee of Weifang Binhai Economic-Technological Development Area.

The competition will last from Sep 9 to 15, with separate rankings for the youth, junior, master, and grandmaster competitions.

Equipment for the competition must comply with the old "70cm" class rules and the new "registered hydrofoils" class rules. Participants can access the guidelines on the IKA and World Sailing websites.

With its vast expanses of water, flat shoreline, large banks of sand, and ideal wind conditions, Binhai has become a paradise for surfers, and it is also the first place to host a kiteboarding competition in China.
