Confucius figures are hit of Shenzhen cultural fair
Hundreds of cartoon-like figures of Confucius are making a big impact at the 12th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), which is being held in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen from May 12 to 16.
With different facial expressions and postures, the figures are displayed in rows to draw visitors to take pictures.
Confucius (551-479 BC) was a Chinese political figure, philosopher and educator of the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) in the State of Lu, somewhere near the present Nanxin town of Qufu city in Southeastern Shandong province.
Confucius's principles had a basis in common Chinese tradition and belief. He championed strong family loyalty, ancestor worship and respect of elders.
Titled "Hello, Kong Zi", (the literal name of Confucius in Chinese), the exhibit belongs to a pioneering "Culture Recreation" project, setting up a platform to promote Chinese culture worldwide and uses cartoon figures as the medium to spread Chinese traditional culture in an interesting and easy way.
ICIF is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Commerce, State Administration of Press and Publication, Film, Radio and Television, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Guangdong Provincial People's Government and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government.
As the only national-level, international and integrated cultural industries fair in China, ICIF focuses on exhibition and exchange. It is committed to building a trade platform for China's cultural industrial products and projects, driving the development of China's cultural industries and actively advancing the globalization of Chinese cultural products.
