Chorus from Shandong gets awards in S. Korea

The Philharmonic Chorus from Shandong Song and Dance Theater picked up first prize in a singing session of the Sino-South Korea art contest in South Korea on May 19.

The Philharmonic Chorus was well-received by Chinese and South Korean experts, juries, and audiences for its melodious timbre and took the top prize in the chorus contest.

Li Qiang, an associate professor of Shandong University of Arts, was awarded the honorable mention as a conductor. Sun Yin and Ji Hongrui also received awards for accompaniment and artistic direction, respectively. Shandong Philharmonic Chorus also won a special award for its achievements in promoting cultural exchange between China and South Korea.

Established in April 2011, the Philharmonic Chorus from Shandong Song and Dance Theater has performed plays such as the Orphan of the Zhao Family (Zhaoshi Gu'er) and a symphony named The Yellow River seawards flows (Huanghe Ru Hai Liu).
