Qingdao Kaboc Intelligent Technology Co Ltd, based in the Qingdao Area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, or Qingdao FTZ, became the first Chinese company to develop a high-performance electronic braking system (EBS) for commercial vehicles, enhancing vehicle safety and handling.
The core of Kaboc's EBS is its independently developed on-board electronic control unit (ECU), which uses proprietary algorithms to precisely distribute braking force to each wheel based on real-time data such as vehicle load and road conditions. This intelligent system, evolved from traditional ABS technology, prevents wheel lock-up during emergency braking, reducing the risk of skidding and loss of control on complex road surfaces.
Kaboc's breakthroughs rely on deep insights into complex real-world applications. Heavy trucks often operate in extreme conditions like extreme cold, deserts, and coastal areas, requiring high adaptability and response speed from braking systems.
Collaborating with Tsinghua University's Vehicle College, Kaboc leveraged the Qingdao FTZ's innovative ecosystem to optimize algorithms and achieve key technological breakthroughs. The upgraded ECU shows significantly improved computational capability and speed, meeting current braking needs and supporting future assisted and autonomous driving applications with a response time reduced to within 0.05 seconds.
Since setting up operations in the Qingdao FTZ, Kaboc has received strong policy and resource support, obtaining six invention patents and forming a complete independent intellectual property system. This achievement reflects the zone's success in nurturing tech-innovative enterprises and promoting high-end equipment industry upgrades.
