1. Port resources

● The Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group, the sixth largest port in the world and the second largest foreign trade port in China, is located in the center of the port clusters around the Bohai Sea, at the Yangtze River Delta region, and in Japan and South Korea. It is a natural deep-water and ice-free port with a wide span.

● The port is mainly engaged in comprehensive logistics services such as the loading and unloading, storage, agency service, bonded business, distribution, processing and transportation of various imported and exported goods including containers, crude oil, iron ore, coal and grains. It has trade ties with over 700 ports in more than 180 countries and regions.

● It ranks fifth worldwide in terms of cargo throughput, sixth in terms of container throughput, and first in terms of berth efficiency.

● It provides 69 sea routes to Japan and South Korea with the help of super cargo stations for air logistics, resulting in that the logistics cost to Japan and South Korea has been decreased by 30 percent.

2. Coordinated development

● An "FTZ-Customs-Port" and "FTZ-Customs-Taxation" joint conference mechanism and an "FTZ-Customs-Port" joint research center were initiated.

● A "one order" system for the whole way through sea-rail combined transportation of goods, a classified supervision mode of cargo storage and transportation, a supervision mode of bonded iron ore and mixed ore, a supervision mode of international container transfer and consolidation business under manifest status were created.

Interim Measures for Supporting the Development of International Container Transshipment and Consolidation Business was issued to promote the transformation into a trading port and a hub port.
