After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Zibo innovatively developed five types of high-quality porcelain, which were well-received in the ceramics field. In the 1960s, the blue-and-white teaware produced in Zibo city was chosen to be used in the Great Hall of the People. Since then, Zibo ceramics rose to fame and have become national ceramics for state banquets and international conferences. A permanent exhibition at the museum is dedicated to showcasing these legendary ceramics.
Other permanent exhibitions at Zibo Ceramics Museum highlight ceramic cultural relics from the Neolithic Age (about 10,000 years ago) to the Republic of China (1912-49); glass works dating from the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771 BC) to the early 20th century; contemporary masterpieces of ceramics and glass; daily-use ceramic products and ceramic works of art; architectural ceramics, garden ceramics, high-technology ceramics, and modern glasses; as well as modern ceramics and glass works from more than 20 foreign countries.
