Lin Hongyu, Party secretary of Jining, recently highlighted the city's ambitious future plans in an interview. He emphasized the city's objective to "safeguard five, aim for top three and strive for first place" within the province. This goal aims to spur the transformation of Jining into a dynamic hub of innovation and sustainability, known as "New Jining".

To align with the province's focus on green, low-carbon, and high-quality development, Jining has established a strategic plan comprised of five key pillars.

The first pillar focuses on nurturing new productive forces by expanding emerging industries such as new energy vehicles, rare earth and carbon materials. Strategic partnerships with leading digital economy companies like Tencent and Baidu are being leveraged to drive major projects forward.

The second pillar centers on attracting investment, with an emphasis on key sectors like new energy batteries and construction machinery. Major projects from prominent companies like Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd and Great Wall Motor are being prioritized to boost economic growth and innovation.

The third pillar revolves around high-level opening-up to create new opportunities for growth. By leveraging strategic geographical advantages like the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and enhancing connectivity with major economic hubs, Jining is aiming to establish itself as an international gateway through the construction of large industrial parks near the port.

Furthermore, the city is focusing on integrating culture and tourism. It is hosting prestigious events like the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations and China (Qufu) International Confucius Cultural Festival, and investing in new cultural landmarks to attract visitors.

Lastly, improving the well-being of residents remains a key priority, with investments in healthcare and social services. Initiatives include building a national regional medical center and upholding Jining's reputation as a model city for infant and child care services.
