Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, has tapped into to the long-lasting effect of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) to transform itself into an international consumption center.

Although the 6th CIIE just concluded, many exhibits from the expo can still be found in the Greenland Jinan Global Commodity Trading Port and the Bonded Display and Exhibition Center in the Jinan Area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

The Greenland Jinan Global Commodity Trading Port presents specialties from various countries in the form of national pavilions, like a condensed version of the CIIE. Wang Min, general manager of Jinan Greenland International Trade Co Ltd, said many of the products on display here are exhibits from previous CIIEs.

The trading port is a year-round display and trading service platform for the CIIE. It opened in Shanghai in November 2018 and came to Jinan the following year.

"Jinan is our first stop after Shanghai," said Wang.

The trading port not only has the CIIE's traditional exhibition and sales model, but also a "digital free trade" bonded exhibition and sales model, which is the first of its kind in the country.

Relying on core "one item, one code" technology, the digital free trade platform ensures the traceability of imported goods and allows taxes to be paid only after the transaction is completed. It makes customs supervision safer, enterprises' exhibitions and sales more convenient, and consumption more secure.

Next, the trading port will expand cooperation with overseas traders in cross-border e-commerce and continue to introduce more global goods to the Jinan consumer market.
