Shandong farm products highlighted at Beijing event

Shandong province held a special promotion activity to boost the profile of local quality farm products on Nov 12 at the Beijing Exhibition Center.

The activity was part of the "Friendly Shandong, Remarkable Shandong" event, which is being held from Nov 10 to 12 in Beijing to showcase Shandong's renowned brands, high-tech products, specialties, handicrafts and picturesque landscapes.

Shandong is renowned as a leading agricultural province in China. It holds a prominent position due to its extensive fertile land and abundant agricultural products. The province boasts of high-quality crops, rich marine resources and advanced agricultural technology, contributing significantly to the country's agricultural development. Shandong's agricultural products are highly regarded domestically and internationally, solidifying its status as a prominent agricultural powerhouse.

In 2022, the total industrial output value of the grain industry in Shandong exceeded 500 billion yuan ($72.77 billion), accounting for more than one eighth of the total national output value.

Shandong tops the nation in vegetable production as well as the output of meat, eggs and dairy products. Additionally, it ranks second in fruit production and total aquatic product output in the country.

Many local specialties, including Yantai apple, Jinxiang garlic, Zhangqiu scallion, Feicheng peach, Rushan oyster, Zhanhua winter jujube and Jiaozhou cabbage, were promoted at the event.

A supporting exhibition also is also being held, allowing visitors to explore the quality farm products of Shandong.
