Gong Mingjie, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress and also president of the Yantai-based Longda Group, suggested during the two sessions that the government should enhance its role in promoting modern agricultural development.

Local authorities in China should issue policies focusing on land resource coordination, the application of technology, and brand cultivation in order to help expand the scale and increase the productivity of agricultural industry.

More efforts should also be made to integrate dispersed farms and small agricultural cooperatives, build up agricultural parks, and provide supporting agricultural infrastructure.

In addition, local government should promote exchanges between universities, scientific research institutions, and enterprises and organize training activities for employees to improve their technical skills. It should also develop a policy for long-term leases to attract more enterprises.

The annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which are known as two sessions and considered the biggest annual political events in China, are currently underway in Beijing.
