Yantai Huang-Bohai New Area has launched a tailored healthcare service for its growing international community, addressing language barriers and complex medical procedures.
A newly established outpatient clinic tailored to suit the needs of foreign guests at Yantai Yeda Hospital is staffed by a core team of physicians with medical experience in various countries. It features optimized workflows, multilingual guidance signage, and online appointment booking, providing a one-stop service from registration and consultation to testing and medication pickup.
The service is further supported by a dedicated team of 42 volunteers — including retired professionals and bilingual medical staff — who guide patients through procedures.
"I used to worry about communication," said one foreign patient, "but now with the clinic and volunteers, everything feels easy and safe."
Developed by the Social Work Department in response to resident feedback, the program reflects the area's commitment to improving livability for expatriates. Future plans include direct billing with international insurers and expanded volunteer support, reinforcing the area's appeal as an international business hub.
