Wang Shishun, a native of Zhaoyuan in Yantai, Shandong province, inherited the centuries-old art of gold and silver forging from his ancestors and has breathed new life into it through his creativity.
Born in 1981 in Xinzhuang town, Zhaoyuan, a millennium-old town known for its gold production, Wang developed a strong interest in gold and silver craftsmanship at a young age. Learning from his father, he eventually established his own brand, "Wang Laocai Silver Smithy".
"Although our shop is called a silver smithy, we also create a lot of gold jewelry. More than half of customers who come to customize gold jewelry are couples getting married," he said.
To promote this craft, Wang has visited renowned craftsmen across China. Together with his father, he has dedicated himself to innovation and research, creating 18 patented technologies for processing gold and silverware.
In the future, he hopes to establish a school to pass on this precious craft to future generations.
