Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province that has embraced foreign culture with the reception of films from abroad as early as 1898, is gearing up to host the 2024 Chinese Film Director Night on June 1.
Over 400 generation-spanning Chinese film directors, actors, and industry professionals will come together for the event.
This grand cinematic affair, held at the Bajiao Bay International Convention and Exhibition Center in the Huang-Bohai New Area, is a collaborative effort between the China Film Directors' Guild, China Media Group Mobile, and the Yantai Municipal Government. It aims to recognize and honor outstanding Chinese-language films and exceptional filmmakers from the past four years.
With its distinctive geographical location, pleasant climate, scenic mountain and sea vistas, and rich cultural heritage, Yantai is attracting a growing number of film and television production teams for location shooting. The city is also boosting support for the film and television cultural industry, providing artists with an ideal creative milieu.
The Seventh Member Representative Assembly of the China Film Directors' Guild is also slated to convene in Yantai later in June. This assembly will not only review past endeavors but also delve into the current landscape of film development, strategically plan the guild's work for the next five years, and sow the seeds of more innovation and hope for the future of Chinese cinema.
