An online exchange event themed on green and low-carbon development was held simultaneously in the cities of Yantai, China and Kunsan, South Korea on March 22. Participants from the two cities shared their experiences in low-carbon environmental practices and explored new paths for green, low-carbon, and circular urban development.
Yantai is the only pilot city for intelligent low-carbon urban development in Shandong province and one of three core areas of the comprehensive trial zone for the transformation of old and new kinetic energy in Shandong.
In recent years, Yantai has made green, low-carbon, and high-quality development its main focus. It has become the country's first city to implement zero-carbon heating and is carrying out the nation's first research and experimental project for the integrated development of offshore wind power and marine ranching.
Recently, the enclave industrial park in Yantai’s Changdao was selected as a key project for the development of characteristic industrial parks for green, low-carbon, and high-quality development in Yantai.
The enclave industrial park in Changdao is one of 15 characteristic industrial parks in Yantai and is expected to stimulate the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of Changdao Island, according to Wang Jingwei, an official of the park.
During the event, Kim Jong-joon from South Korea also introduced Kunsan's policies and achievements in green, low-carbon, and sustainable development. He mentioned that Kunsan is researching and actively promoting the development of environmental protection industries, including the use of reusable resources such as plastics and ethylene for technology and service-related industries and industries related to LED lighting or high-efficiency glass equipment and devices.
