"This year, the export momentum of high-end equipment has been strong, with the African miscellaneous cargo liner maintaining a high monthly shipping volume at 10 vessels, helping Chinese companies go global," said Wang Wei of Yantai Port.
In the first two months of this year, leveraging the advantages of the China-Africa Two-Way Logistics Golden Channel and China-Indonesia shipping routes, as well as strong operational efficiency, the shipping of high-end equipment and other miscellaneous cargo at Yantai Port has seen rapid growth, with a total handling volume of 1.8 million metric tons, a year-on-year increase of 70 percent.
As one of the 15 key ports under the national Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and one of China's major trade ports serving China-Africa trade, Yantai Port has seized upon new export opportunities in China's manufacturing sector and is focusing on developing new quality productive forces, which has helped it establish a stronger and more sustainable competitive advantage.
Additionally, the port has made strong efforts to advance the construction of logistics corridors, including the China-Africa Two-Way Logistics Golden Channel, the China-Indonesia logistics corridor, and more such corridors along the BRI, which have facilitated the global expansion of the "new three", namely, electric vehicles for transport of persons, lithium-ion batteries and solar cells.
In addition to high-end equipment, the export of new energy wind power equipment and special equipment is also increasing. At the Penglai Port Area in Yantai, a foreign trade ship carrying special boiler modules worth nearly 100 million yuan ($13.85 million) recently departed for the Middle East.
Yantai Port has successfully opened direct shipping routes to 23 destinations in Africa, Southeast Asia, South America, Europe, and more, covering over 200 types of miscellaneous cargo and accelerating the global expansion of made-in-China products.
