"I really enjoyed the Chinese Day event. I got to experience fun activities I've never tried before, such as making traditional ink and brush paintings, playing pitching-pot, and making sugar paintings," said a South Korean student studying at the Yantai Huasheng International School.
On Feb 2, coinciding with the traditional Little New Year in northern China, over a hundred people from more than 10 countries and regions gathered at the school in the Huang-Bohai New Area in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, to experience Chinese Day activities and experience the charm of Chinese cuisine and culture.
At the traditional food exhibition area, a wide array of sizzling traditional Chinese snacks was on offer, such as fried sweet cakes, boiled glutinous rice balls, spring rolls, and sugar-coated haws. Various patterned pastries were neatly arranged, looking especially tempting.
The traditional culture and tourism area was also bustling with activity. A girl from Canada got the chance to try paper-cutting, couplet-writing, and ink painting. She particularly enjoyed writing with a brush, which she had never done before.
