Zheng Deyan, mayor of Yantai, Shandong province, is leading a delegation to Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao from May 26 to June 1 to seek new opportunities for Yantai's green, low-carbon and high-quality development and carry out economic and trade negotiations with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Shandong and the Bay Area are among the most open and dynamic regions in China.
A city known for its sci-tech industry and entrepreneurial spirit, Shenzhen has been building a demonstration zone for socialism with Chinese characteristics and Yantai has also been accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system.
During their visit to Shenzhen, the delegation will hold a meeting on the integrated development of industries between Yantai and the Bay Area to promote Yantai's green industries and investment environment, hold talks with well-known entrepreneurs from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao region, Fortune Global 500 companies and multinationals, and sign agreements for several projects.
Yantai has always maintained close economic and cultural exchanges with Hong Kong. There are currently more than 4,100 Hong Kong-funded projects in Yantai with an actual utilization of investment totaling $17.9 billion, accounting for 41.4 percent of the city's utilization of overseas capital. The delegation will hold a dialogue on green and low-carbon development with Hong Kong.
A famous international free port and world tourism and leisure center, Macao has invested in more than 70 projects related to fields such as clothing, machinery, pipe material and asset management in Yantai.
In April, the Yantai-Macao friendship association was established, opening a new chapter of solidarity and cooperation between the two sides.
During their visit to Macao, the delegation will invite key organizations, well-known enterprises and financial institution leaders to discuss the deepening of cooperation.
