The coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province launched a special tour event on March 11 to boost the recovery of its tourism and culture market, with more than 200 people attending the event.
At the opening ceremony, the city distributed consumption coupons worth 2 million yuan ($13,748,400) to stimulate spending, and local authorities said that an additional 3 million yuan of consumption coupons will be issued soon, which is expected to help expand domestic demand and strengthen market vitality.
The city also launched three themed events for this spring, which are a cultural carnival, a short-distance trip for spring outings, and a marathon, all of which are expected to boost the recovery of its culture and tourism sector.
Following the government's optimization of COVID-19 response measures earlier this year, the domestic consumer market began to regain vigor during the holiday season. In addition, Yantai has made great efforts to boost local culture and tourism. Fifteen specific measures have been rolled out and consumption coupons worth more than 10 million yuan will be issued this year. Other measures taken by the government to stimulate the consumer market in recent months also included fostering the nighttime economy, promoting e-commerce, as well as cultivating and strengthening renowned local brands.
