The coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province held a promotional event in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on March 1.
Xi'an has established itself as a national central city and a well-known tourist city, receives a huge number of tourists every year, and has strong demand for high-quality ingredients for its local cuisines.
Zhu Hongfeng, presidents of Shaanxi Hotel Association, spoke highly of the promotional activity. He said that Xi'an will deepen cooperation in the catering industry with Yantai, and introduce more high-quality precious marine products to Xi'an, which will help it expand its "Fresh Yantai" brand.
In recent years, Yantai is speeding up its pace to develop its modern fishery industry, and promote the high-quality development of its marine-ranching demonstration areas. The city has set up 46 marine ranches above the provincial level that have a total area of over 1.4 million mu (9.33 million hectares), as well as a complete development pattern for marine ranching. The city has cultivated a wide variety of marine products, all of which enjoy a great reputation at home and abroad.
"Xi'an has a unique locational advantage, and set up a complete transportation and logistics system. The city has great market potential for aquatic products," Zhu added.
Yantai has a long history for developing its fishery industry. In recent years, the city has attached great importance to promoting the high-quality development of marine fisheries, aiming to develop the city into a "blue granary" area in China.
Yantai has developed and prospered from the sea. In 2022, the city made great efforts to promote the upgrading and transformation of its traditional marine industries, and a three-year action plan was released to advance the high-quality development of the whole industrial chain of marine ranching.
Currently, the total output value of Yantai's fishery industry has exceeded 55 billion yuan ($7.95 billion), and the city is stepping up its pace to build a nationally leading and world-class demonstration city for marine ranching.
