Given that people are more willing to spend during Spring Festival, which is traditionally the peak season for consumption, the Yantai municipal bureau of culture and tourism prior to the festival issued coupons worth 2 million yuan ($294,800), which could be used for accommodation, tourism entrance tickets, cinema tickets and other entertainment activities.
Local hotels, restaurants, amusement parks, shopping malls and other venues also launched a slew of preferential packages to attract more consumers.
During the seven-day holiday, open scenic spots in the city such as the Yantai Mountain Scenic Area and the Yangma Island Tourist Resort proved popular among tourists.
