As the golden autumn arrives, apples in the coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province enter their harvest season.  

Yantai is famous for its apple industry. The unique maritime climate and superior geographical location contribute to the high quality of Yantai apples, which feature a bright red color and are crisp and sweet.

Yantai has a long history of planting apples, which were introduced into Yantai in 1871 by an American missionary. Through farmers' efforts to promote technological innovation and upgrade quality, Yantai apples have dominated the domestic market.

Yantai apples were added to China's national agricultural product geographical indication protection list in 2002. In 2008, they were given a national trademark certification of geographical indication, and in 2011, the "Yantai Apple" brand was recognized as a China Famous Brand by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce.
