To celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China, the coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province launched a new Russian website on Oct 2 to expand the city's global influence among its sister cities in Russia.
As one of the first batch of China's coastal cities to open to the outside world, Yantai has attached great importance to improving its internationalization and promoting its global image in a bid to develop the city into a highland for Shandong's opening up.
Currently, Yantai has established friendly and cooperative relationships with 46 cities in 22 countries, including many cities in Russia.
The new Russian website, entitled "Hello World, This Is Yantai", was jointly launched by the Information Office of Yantai Municipal People's Government and China Media Group's CRI Online, and is expected to tell its stories to the outside world and boost the city's international communication capabilities.
The website publishes Yantai's latest news to Russian-speaking countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
In addition to daily news and content updates, the website will also showcase important events, Yantai's economic development achievements, culture and tourism resources, and foreign cultural exchanges through a variety of forms such as articles, pictures, illustrations, videos, and specials.
In recent years, Yantai has paid great importance to boosting its level of international communication, and it has established a wide range of international communication platforms such as China Daily's English communication platform, which have played active roles in helping Yantai reach a higher level of opening-up to the outside world.
