The 2022 Hometown of Confucius, Friendly Shandong Culture and Tourism Promotion Week kicked off in Macao on Sept 20, and the coastal city of Yantai in Shandong province promoted its rich culture and tourism resources during the event, offering an opportunity for local residents to admire the beauty and charm of the city.

A wide range of intangible cultural heritage items from Yantai such as paper-cutting works were presented at the event, which drew crowds of tourists to learn about the traditional art form, and arouse the interest of Macao teenagers to learn more about traditional Chinese culture.

Organizers also launched a special event to promote traditional Shandong culture at campuses in Macao.

"This is a rare opportunity to be able to observe Yantai paper-cutting work up close. If I have the chance, I will definitely learn more about the charming art form," said He Xuling, a middle school student from the Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School.

Yantai group also visited the Macao Youth Travel Agency, and established the Yantai Culture and Tourism (Macao) Promotion Center at the agency, which will help both sides deepen cooperation in the tourism sector.
