Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, established a friendly cooperative relationship with Pinsk, Belarus, according to a video conference held on Sept 15.

Pinsk is an industrial center of Belarus, and an important port city in the country. The city's pillar industries are machinery, shipbuilding, wood processing, food processing, and textiles.

The city's mayor addressed the video conference by saying that Pinsk is a beautiful city, which boasts modern infrastructure facilities, and abundant educational and employment opportunities, creating favorable conditions for investment and tourism. He expressed his hope that the establishment of the friendly cooperative relationship with Yantai can promote exchanges and cooperation between the two cities in various fields such as economy and trade, education and science, culture and sports, and tourism.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of China-Belarus diplomatic ties. Over the past 30 years, the relationship between the two countries has achieved fruitful results, and the two sides have become comprehensive strategic partners with mutual trust and win-win cooperation.

In recent years, Yantai and Pinsk have made great efforts to advance the friendly cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology, education, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative.

According to official data, the total foreign trade between Yantai and Pinsk amounted to 383 million yuan ($54.6 million) in 2021, with the main import and export products being aquatic products, spare automobile parts, and machinery accessories, which exemplifies the close friendship and cooperation ties between the two cities.
