The Marine Economic Innovation Forum for Northeast Asia, or the 2022 China Marine Economic Forum, was held in the coastal city of Yantai from Aug 9 to 11.  

The three-day event consisted of one main forum and five sub-forums, and eight academicians, more than 300 experts and scholars, and enterprise representatives in the marine field attended the event. The attendees carried out discussions related to marine new energy, marine high-end equipment, aquatic seed production and deep sea aquaculture, and the ecological marine economy.

To transform Shandong into a powerful maritime province, the province has worked hard in recent years to achieve total optimization of land and marine resources. According to Fan Bo, Shandong's vice-governor, Shandong plans to continue speeding up marine science and technology innovation to support the high-quality growth of its marine sector.

At the event's opening ceremony, Yantai's mayor, Zheng Deyan, said that the city's strong growth momentum is due in large part to the sea, which has given it life and wealth. Yantai will work with all parties to develop into a benchmark city with a developed marine economy, an innovative city with advanced marine technology, and a beautiful city with a sound ecological marine environment. Yantai plans to cultivate new kinetic energy for the development of the marine industry.
