Yantai starts construction of 254 key projects

With COVID-19 resurgences in the coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province under better control, the construction of 254 key urban projects have started or restarted in the city, aiming to shore up economic momentum, and improve the quality of urban development.
In the first half of this year, Yantai has attached great importance to attracting investment in urban construction, and a total of 13 projects with a combined investment of 9 billion yuan ($1.33 billion) were introduced.
Efforts have also been made to promote high-quality development of the construction industry, and 17 top-notch construction enterprises were established in the city. According to official data, the output value of the city's construction industry totaled 57 billion yuan in the first six months of the year, growing by 71 percent year-on-year, and showing the fastest growth rate in the province.
Yantai also spared no efforts to improve its living environment by renewing old residential areas. A total of 120 old residential areas have been put on the renewal list, of which 111 have completed construction. The city is also encouraging the integration of new energy vehicle charging facilities into the city's old residential community renovation projects. Efforts have been paid to expand its electrical vehicle infrastructure citywide, with 255 charging piles that have been built from January to June.
According to the city's development plan, a number of infrastructure projects will be launched in the second half of this year, including sponge city construction, transportation facilities, the renovation of old residential communities, and clean energy sources for winter heating.
