The coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province signed a friendly exchange action plan with Kingston, Jamaica via a video link at the unveiling ceremony of the China-Caribbean Development Center that was held in Jinan, capital of Shandong province, on July 6.
The action plan is another important cooperative achievement for the two cities after the two established a sister city relationship in November 2019. According to the plan, Yantai and Kingston will both set up liaison offices, strengthen high-level exchanges, and promote cooperation in the economy, culture, education, environmental protection, fishery and tourism.
Efforts will also be made to support the cooperation and development of enterprises in the two cities in sectors such as new energy, environmental protection, vocational education and other fields, and encourage individuals, groups and institutions from both places to carry out cultural, artistic and sports exchanges.
Yantai will take advantages of the newly-established China-Caribbean Development Center to bolster exchanges and cooperation with Caribbean nations in various fields, and promote bilateral cooperation to a new level.
Kingston is the capital of Jamaica, which is located in the southeastern region of the country, and has a population of 900,000. It is the largest city and political, economic and cultural center in Jamaica. It is the origin of Blue Mountain Coffee and the seventh largest natural port in the world.
