The first 35-kilovolt submarine cable of Shandong offshore wind power project completed construction in Haiyang, a county-level city in Yantai on July 23.
The Shandong Peninsula South No 4 offshore wind power project is the first of its kind in Shandong province. It is located in the south sea area of Haiyang and has an investment of 55 billion yuan ($8.51 billion).
The project has onshore and offshore parts. The onshore part mainly functions offshore wind power data transmission and wind power monitoring.
The first submarine cable has a length of 763 meters and weighs more than 21 tons, which has great difficulty for construction.
After put into use, the project will generate more than 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year. It will also help promote energy conservation and emissions reduction in Shandong province.
